はじめまして、Stephane（ステファン）です。
フランス南部のコルシカ島出身です。さまざまな国や文化に触れながら生活してきた中で日本にたどり着き、気づけば5年以上が経ちました。今では日本を自分のホームだと感じています。
これまで東京のインターナショナルスクールなどで子どもたちを教えながら、高校生、大学生、社会人の方にも英語を教えてきました。現在はフリーランスの英語講師として、年齢や目的の異なる15名以上の生徒さんに継続してレッスンをしています。何年もレッスンを続けてくださっている生徒さんも多く、長く信頼していただけていることをとても大切にしています。
私がレッスンで一番大切にしているのは、楽しみながら、きちんと上達することです。
長年教えてきて感じるのは、英語は「たくさん勉強すれば伸びる」というものではないということです。実際に使って、たくさん話して、間違えて、また使う。その繰り返しの中で、少しずつ「英語が使える」という感覚が身についていきます。
そのため、私のレッスンでは、生徒さんができるだけたくさん英語を使える時間を作るようにしています。もちろん文法や単語もしっかり扱いますが、それだけで終わらせず、実際の会話や身近な話題の中で使えるようにしていきます。
お子さまの場合は、ただ座って先生の話を聞くだけではなく、ゲームや会話、さまざまなアクティビティを通して、自然に英語を使ってもらいます。「英語の勉強」というより、「英語を使って何かをする」時間に近いかもしれません。
高校生や大学生の方には、学校や試験の英語だけでは身につきにくい、実際に話せる英語を。社会人の方には、仕事や海外とのコミュニケーションですぐに使える、自然で自信のある英語を。
英検、IELTS、TOEICなどの試験対策、英会話、発音、プレゼンテーション、ビジネス英語などにも対応しています。
レッスンの内容は、生徒さんによってかなり変わります。
「英語を話すと緊張してしまう」
「単語や文法は知っているのに、会話になると出てこない」
「子どもに英語を好きになってほしい」
「仕事でもっと自信を持って英語を使いたい」
「試験のスコアを上げたい」
同じ「英語を学びたい」でも、必要なことは一人ひとり違います。まず現在のレベルや目標を確認して、必要なことに時間を使います。
そして、せっかくのレッスンなので、楽しくなければ続きません。
映画、音楽、旅行、スポーツ、文化など、私はかなり幅広いことに興味があります。生徒さんの好きなことを話題にすることもできますし、「特に趣味がない」という方でも、その日の気分やレベルに合った話題をこちらで用意します。
私自身、フリーランスとして教えることを選んだのは、これまでの経験を生かしながら、一人ひとりの生徒さんにもっと合ったレッスンを作りたかったからです。

Hello! I’m Stephane.
I’m originally from Corsica, a small island in the south of France. After living in and travelling through different countries and cultures, I eventually found my way to Japan. More than five years later, it has become home.
I’ve taught children at international schools in Tokyo, as well as teenagers, university students, and working professionals. I now work fully as a freelance English teacher, teaching more than 15 students of different ages and levels. Some of my students have been learning with me for several years, and that long-term trust is something I value greatly.
What matters most to me is quite simple: you should enjoy your lessons, and you should be able to see yourself improving.
After years of teaching, I’ve found that people do not necessarily improve because they study more. They improve when they actually use the language. They speak, make mistakes, try again, and gradually become more comfortable expressing themselves.
That is why I try to make my lessons practical and interactive. We will of course work on grammar, vocabulary, and accuracy when you need them, but we will also spend plenty of time actually using English.
With children, that might mean games, conversations, stories, or activities where they have to think and communicate in English. I don’t want them simply sitting quietly while I do all the talking. Ideally, they are having so much fun doing something that they almost forget they are learning.
With teenagers and university students, we can work on school English, exams, conversation, pronunciation, or simply becoming more confident when speaking.
For adults, especially professionals, I focus on English that is actually useful in real situations. I have experience working with people in areas such as finance and pharmaceuticals, and we can work on meetings, presentations, professional conversations, international communication, or simply speaking more naturally at work.
I also teach IELTS, TOEIC, and EIKEN preparation, as well as general conversation, pronunciation, presentation skills, and business English.
The content of my lessons can vary a lot from one student to another.
Maybe you know plenty of English but freeze when you actually have to speak.
Maybe you want your child to enjoy English rather than see it as another school subject.
Maybe you need to become more confident using English at work.
Maybe you have a specific exam score in mind.
Or maybe you simply want to become more comfortable having a conversation.
Whatever the reason, we start from where you are and work towards where you want to be. I will adjust the lessons as you improve rather than forcing you through the same material regardless of your needs.
And honestly, I think enjoying the lesson matters. If you dread every English lesson, it becomes very difficult to keep improving over time.
I’m interested in a wide range of things, from films and music to travel, sports, culture, and everyday life, so I’m usually able to find something interesting to talk about. And if you don’t have a particular topic in mind, I’ll bring something to the table.
I chose to move fully into freelance teaching because I wanted to use my experience in a more flexible way and have the freedom to build lessons around the individual learner rather than follow a fixed programme.
I currently work with learners of very different ages, personalities, and goals, and I’m confident that with the right approach, we can make real progress towards yours too.
