My name is Connor and I am an American living in Hachioji on the Chuo, Keio, and Yokohama Lines. I'm from Oregon on the West Coast of the US. My father is British and my mother is American, so I am familiar with both British and American English and cultures.
I have been teaching English in Japan for many years and have taught all ages and levels of students from pre-schoolers through elementary/JH/HS students, university students, office workers, housewives, and retirees. I have taught English at the Diet Library (group class, customer service English), Belgian Embassy (one-on-one conversational English), and Tokyo University (discussion/presentation).
I have a BA degree in both Eastern and Western Humanites (Art, Art History, History, Philosophy, Music, Literature) and a Masters degree in Educational Counseling. Before coming to Japan I worked as a manager of a jewelry company and import business.
I currently have a working-visa and I am a resident of Hachioji City. I teach part-time at two universities in Tokyo and Yokohama. At those schools I'm teaching conversational English (basic & intermediate) and academic reading/writing. My Japanese ability is Intermediate, but I am working to improve my ability.
I've been to quite a few countries including: Canada, Mexico, Korea, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Russia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Germany, Austria, Ireland, and all over the US including Hawaii, Saipan, and Guam. I've been to most of the most popular cities in the US many times.
I can help you use and understand the English language. Feel free to contact me anytime.
