I've been teaching german and english from left to right from kids to university students for years - though I think the real reason I can be a great teacher are as follows:
I learned how to improve ones pronounciation tremendously as I coached rappers struggling with acents, while I worked as an audio engineer,
realized what to be cautios of in terms of grammer while attending school, not because I am very talanted or diligent, but because I simultaneously watched literally thousands of episodes of tv shows (Could not wait for them to be translated to german and vice versa, I'm addicted to cliffhangers),
traveled to over 14 different countrys while working all kinds of different jobs ranging from a translator, to a security guard all the way to car mechanic- imerged to all these completely different surroundings and their unique way of handling english and german as second language, often surrounded by with what I like to call the,
"international english" where people struggle with all the nonsense that makes english hard to understand and master, here are a few examples I experienced first hand:
A swiss native traveler did not realice he misspronounced "bacon" by such an extend, he made it sound like package. He always got his orders WITH bacon,.. served on a plate.
A austrian rapper touring trough germany could not seem to attract an audience - despite performing in german, people could not understand him most of the time, making for an akward and unpleasent show
A student in dallas, texas, just could not make sense of german grammar. He finally made some progress, as I guided him trough,- and got him hooked,- on one of my favorite novels and a band I adored. We had many fun conversations, but not gonna lie, it was tough work
