Hi,
My parents are Japanese, who immigrated to Canada before I was born. Grew up near Vancouver, BC. Lived in Wakenaam Island, Guyana for a while, Tainan, Taiwan, and Wenzhou, China.
I am a native English speaker but I am also fluent in Mandarin Chinese. While I can speak and understand Japanese without issue, my reading and writing in Japanese is still a work in progress.
I am married to a Japanese woman. Moved to Japan because my in-laws were in need of care.
I am an accountant by training however prior to moving to Japan, I was a quality control inspector in the manufacturing industry in China. In Canada, I was a controller for a women's clothing retailer and a specialty food importer.
My parents can not speak English. I grew up always translating and explaining English for them. I understand clearly the areas of difficulty that many Japanese people have with the English language.
I have lived in countries where I was the language learner. I truly feel for the struggles you are going through in learning a new language.
