Hi,
I'm an experienced English teacher in both private lessons and classroom lessons for students aged 3-adult.
My textbook of choice for young children and Elementary school students is the 'Let's Go' series. I use songs, games, flash cards and stories to make English fun, supplementing the book with my own material to build vocabulary and confidence in English.
For JHS and SHS students I teach original worksheets that compliment the school curriculum, but with greater emphasis on speaking and listening. The students are then able to apply their school English lessons in a practical way and better recall the grammar patterns studied which helps them in their school tests. All of my JHS students regularly achieve over 80% on school tests.
For adults I teach using free conversation and a textbook called Speak Out, designed to help adults learn practical everyday English and encourage speaking over writing. This textbook does not use typical boring conversation patterns, but instead teaches vocabulary and give scenarios for students to speak under more realistic conditions.
I spent 3 years in Yamagata teaching senior high school students and at a yogogakko (special needs school). I’ve been teaching private lessons and Eikaiwa classes in Kyoto since October 2013. Currently I am a PhD student at Kyoto university studying immunology.
In my free time I enjoy nature, playing with my cat, volunteering, playing the flute & koto, reading, and aikido. I also organise bilingual cooking classes and buffet meet-ups.
