Hello! My name is Elliot. I love english language, word games, and sounds. I am a musician. I have some experience helping japanese people improve their pronunciation, vocabulary, and conversational skills and I hope I can be a good teacher for you. I have loved words since I was a child and I can help explain things in ways that are easy to remember using analogies, metaphors, and stories. Ideally I would like to help advanced level english speakers learning SAT level words and working with difficult concepts, but I can work with anyone who has basic conversational level english. I am learning Japanese so I hope to improve as time goes on too.

Additional details: We can work together to create a lesson plan for you. I think because I am a musician I can help you succeed with pronunciation. The trick is to find words that are easy to say and identify the sounds so that you can use them in words that are not as easy! I have always loved listening to voices and learning about mouth posture/dialects and accents. I have a keen ear for it! I am passionate about words and passionate about teaching and I think that is why I can be good at it. Because I am a touring musician I have experience with negotiating and with other business English skills. I can help you figure out the right way to approach different topics with different audiences. I have lived on both coasts of the US and can help with planning and logistics as well. I am currently reading Several Short Sentences About Writing by Verlyn Klinkenborg because I am always looking to improve my writing and understand more about language! It would be great to find students who are confident in their english ability and want to go from good to great. One of my favorite things has been helping my students to understand american and british comedy! The experience of seeing someone get a joke for the first time is such a joyous thing. In a trial lesson we can go over what your goals are and discuss what kind of learner you are and what will work best. From there I will prepare a curriculum for you and send it to you via e-mail.
