Hello!
My name is Michelle and I have taught English in Japan for just over three years now. I am a keen outdoors-woman and mountaineer so spend most of my free time at high elevations or scaling tall rock faces! I'm fairly well-traveled and try to stay familiar with several cultures. Put simply, the world fascinates me, and this is a curiosity, diversity and open-mindedness I inject into all of my curriculums. I think it's integral that learning be fun, but furthermore that educators never narrow our scope to a single topic or method.
While I myself studied both English grammar and composition as well as journalism as a university student, a majority of my lessons revolve around or are inspired by STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) topics as I believe understanding the universe around us keeps us not only inspired but thoughtful in ways we cannot articulate. When we sit down together to strengthen our English language skills, I want you or your child to walk away with more than an expansion of simple lifeless words, but with a deeper appreciation and understanding of our world as a whole.
My students are more than students - they genuinely are friends, no matter the age. I pride myself on connecting as more than an instructor and embracing every students' unique learning style. Any of my students can tell you that I am compassionate, patient, enthusiastic and kind. I also find that a little humor and gentle respect goes a long way in easing even the most shy or even energetic learner.
Please note that due to cocos-19 precautions I am currently focused on online video lessons. I look forward to meeting and exploring with you!
Warm wishes,
Michelle :)
