Hello!
My name is Ryan and I am currently an exchange student from Boston College in the United States studying Economics and Political Science at Waseda University. I am a native English speaker and have studied Spanish and Japanese. I have studied foreign languages for over eight years and understand how daunting it can be for students to learn a new language, especially one as difficult and confusing as English. However, with my experience firsthand as a student of both foreign languages and the English language, I promise to take a new approach to learning this language that should prepare students for exams and life as an English speaker.
Ideally, if you are a student and you are looking to prepare for an exam, bring me any materials you are provided with or have acquired for the test and I can not only go over them with you but help you understand the harder material. I prefer not to help students learn how to answer a specific question, but rather to help them learn the concepts of the language so that they are better prepared for when they need to use their English skills.
Also, if students wish to learn English to improve their speaking skills, I will try to use a combination of written materials (like textbooks) and the student's own suggestion of what they would like to learn or focus on for the lesson. I believe this is a more helpful method of learning that the traditional classroom or cram school approach of forcing information onto a student which is not useful to them in the real world.
If you have any questions at all, please email me (日本語でも大丈夫です!)at any time and I will try to respond as soon as possible!
I am extremely excited to be able to teach what I know and I look forward to teaching you!
