Hello!
My name is Irene (イレネ), I am 27 years old and I live between Kyoto and Osaka since 2019. I am currently a researcher at Kyoto University and before I studied in the UK for two years at Oxford, very prestigious university that inspired most of the Hogwarts school (Harry Potter). I am used to teaching English and Italian to people of all ages: I did private classes as well as group classes in conversational schools.
I believe that to learn a language you need to be interested in it, so I always base the teaching on something that the students are interested in: a good, movie, political or economic topic. Conversation is the main way to learn and grammar only comes after overcoming the natural fear of making mistakes. My goal is to make the students think and I am only there to help that process.
I am not particularly formal and the thing I appreciate the most is students challenging me with their opinion and thoughts. I am always up for a good discussion! I am curious about Japan and its culture so there will always be something to talk about with me.
This said, I hope you have fun and enjoy your time learning a new language!
