I'm an American from a small town in Maine, a state in the northeastern part of the US. I lived/worked/studied (at Sophia University) in Tokyo for three years before moving to Beijing, China for six years. After Beijing, I lived in Shenzhen for four years and returned to Tokyo in 2018. I'm a native speaker of English but also speak Mandarin Chinese and basic Japanese. I'm interested in history, cooking, movies, music, traveling, sociology, reading, and mythology, to name a few. I've been in education/consultation for almost twenty years and prior to Corona, I worked as an English corporate trainer at Accenture Japan. Since then I've been a freelance educator and consultant. Most of my recent clients have been adults looking to increase their comfort in certain areas of English (conversation, travel, business, culture, etc.) as well as those looking for corporate consulting using English. I use a variety of materials, including textbooks, reading materials, vocabulary use, presentations/conversation projects, listening exercises, linguistic culture/psychology, and short video examples, however, I focus primarily on student requests. Learning another language can be challenging at times, but that doesn't mean it can't also be interesting and rewarding.
