My mother tongue is Hungarian, but I am for all intents and purposes a native English speaker. I've been studying English since I was six, and been fluent since I was twelve. Since I studied English formally for 12 years, I have a deep understanding of the language's grammar which most native speakers lack. I have a Cambridge CPE, grade A language certificate (IELTS 9.0 equivalent), and have participated in IELTS and TOEFL preparatory courses, so I can help prepare for any of these specifically. I have taught English informally to high school students as well as working adults before, and also helped some of them prepare for language exams.
For the past two years, I have been a student of Japanese at the University of Cambridge. I am currently on a year abroad in Kyoto, and would like to teach some English in my free time. I really like to teach, and I love English, so I am especially fond of sharing my knowledge about it with other people. Based on my own experience, I also think learning a language can and should be fun; one does not learn English by practicing vocabulary at home, but by interacting with the language as much as possible, most easily through various media; books, movies, TV shows, and even music.
I welcome beginners as well, as I can teach in Japanese (I speak it well enough to get by, I can do more than just daily conversation but I am not completely fluent), but if you can already understand English well enough, I will only speak Japanese when completely necessary; students usually learn much faster that way.
Lessons are conducted in a way that is conducive to best attaining a student's goals in the amount of time that they wish to spend with learning English, and are thus different from student to student.
