Hi everyone,
My name is Ellie, and I am currently a full-time college student at Sophia University. I was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up in Richmond, Virginia, juggling regular American school and Japanese Saturday school for my entire life. Hence, I was able to maintain my fluency in both Japanese and English. Concerning my teaching experience, I have been tutoring English for about four years, along with a one-year experience at Kumon as an assistant English teacher. Needless to say, I have a burning passion for teaching other people as I enjoy it so much - in the future, I would like to be a college professor while taking on professional translating work. In addition, I also have passed the highest level of the Eiken Test - the 1st level and graduated high school with honors.
Teaching Style: After I get an overall idea of the student's ability in the English language during some basic conversations during the first lesson, I will focus on the student's weak areas and improve his or her strengths. If students have homework that he or she needs help on, I will assist them in that matter very thoroughly. Also, I do not provide or use any textbooks: if students choose to bring them for my lessons, that would be great. Lastly, my lessons generally lean towards the informal style, since I want to maintain a casual and friendly atmosphere with my students. I strive to make learning English fun for everyone and hope to maximize each and every students' potential by teaching accordingly to their specific learning and curriculum-appropriate methods.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me via email at any time.
I'm looking forward to working with you, and I can't wait to make learning English fun for all of you!
***In the case I have a university speech competition on a Saturday, please understand that I have to move your slot to the next available Wednesday or Saturday.
