Hey there!
I'm Andrew from Singapore (yes, the Merlion) and I'm here in Kyoto for business and to study the Japanese language. I am self-employed and own a Human Resource & IT Solutions company specialising in the Japanese HR industry, I am also one of the Directors in a Game Development Studio based in Indonesia set to release their flagship RPG title across multiple platforms this year..
Coming from Singapore, I do not possess a strong accent and I've been told by my Japanese business partners that because of my clear pronunciation and lack of accent, they find it easy to understand my English and I hope this trait could help other Japanese build their confidence in learning and conversing in English especially if they are intimidated by the strong accents of western teachers.
Although I do not have any formal teaching experience but my myriad and extensive life & work experience has given me a depth of knowledge and adaptability that cannot be replicated through any form of formal education.
With that said, I do not recommend my service to those who are seeking to receive a formal classroom-type English training but instead what I offer is a fun and casual lesson in improving a person's base English ability with a strong emphasis on using the language naturally, understanding nuances and being able to effectively express one's thoughts and discuss over a wide variety of topics with that goal in mind, I will also try to also include activities such as visiting tourist attractions to have practical interactions in English.
Singapore is a multi-cultural country where we have lived and co-existed with different races, religion and nationalities since our founding years. Hence I wish to also take this opportunity to be a gateway for Japanese to understand and experience the real cultures, history, traditions and perspective of all the different races and religion in Singapore and in South East Asia.
To conclude, I hope that I can help my students gain a stronger command of the English language, to use English naturally in a practical form and at the same time broaden their horizons & perspective globally.
