Hello, I'm Patrick, a native English speaker from North America. I've studied five other languages however my Japanese is still beginner level but I'm working on it. While living in Europe, I conducted English language practice labs at a small college in Mainz, Germany and have experience teaching various topics on fermented foods such as kombucha and winemaking.
Understanding English is one thing, but understanding satire, slang, and other nuances will allow you to build lasting relationships with native speakers that textbooks can never teach. It's best if you have a good level of English skills to benefit from my lessons.
Typical lesson plan:
1. Establish student goals and objectives.
2. Watch movie clips/videos from popular culture.
3. Dissect each sentence of the video clip to explain the actual and hidden meanings of the underlying satire.
4. Watch video again to reinforce lesson.
5. Student speaks the lines from the video to practice delivery and timing of satire in dialogue.
Look forward to hearing from you!
