I am an American artist currently living in Kyoto. I am interested in broadening my experience here and gaining a deeper understanding of Japan and its people through teaching. I believe that the flow of knowledge is not one-way in teaching. There is a reciprocal relationship between teacher and student, each learning from the other.
I have a university degree in English, am a published poet and maintained a popular Kyoto blog for many years. I have been teaching English in Japan for nine+ years. But I feel it is really my capacity for creative thinking that will keep students interested and excited, and ultimately make for a memorable learning experience. In addition I am studying Japanese, which will help bridge the communication gap between myself and my pupils.
